Limping
In poker online, limping is usually considered a sign of weakness. In a game with $5 and $10 blinds, limping in by betting the minimum amount allowed shows that you don’t want to risk any more casino chips than you have to in order to see the flop.
Depending on the poker online player, I generally assume that a limper has a low pocket pair or a high card with a low to moderate kicker. It varies from player to player, but after enough hands, you should be able to accurately guess what players hold when they limp in.
Don’t get complacent when a player limps in and assume that you know what they have. Some good players will limp in with big pocket pairs or other hands with a high probability of winning in order to give them a bigger pot. Just like everything else in poker, when a player makes a move, you need to try to see all the angles that he might be attacking from. If he’s usually a passive player, limping could be a sign of weakness, but if you know the player to play a few tricks every now and then, it’s a good idea to proceed with caution.
